Comments:

Jan Brett does a fabulous job conveying the culture gap between the town and country mice in her text with lively, smooth writing and a good deal of humor. The art on each double-paged spread is overflowing with details; exquisite patterns appear on clothing, china, and rugs, and imagitive borders range from pasta to yarn to silk. The mice are characters to love and the story provides the readers with the message that there is no place like home.
